I have two good friends that I have had for 20+ years now. When I moved into a new house in a strange city. They came over with a cooked dinner that very night for my family of four and lent me a broom and dustpan and vacume for cleaning, as I had virtually nothing yet for the house. They invited me over for coffee the next day. We have been very close since that move in day. We would do anything for eachother. Pat, and Karyn I love you!

I recently had a very difficult pregnancy with which I ended up on bedrest. My friends, family, and coworkers rallied together to help me get through it all and helped my husband with our nine-year old daughter. They provided meals, magazines, hand-held games, baby-sitting, a shoulder to cry on, and a hand to hold. I will forever be grateful.

I have a great friend whom I met through my daughter, she is always doing great, kind nice things for me. Taking my daughter places with their family and generously finding activities for the two girls to do together. Since she works quite a bit, I try and keep her daughter occupied in the summer months when the girls are out of school :)

It took me a very long time to accept help from friends. I am usually doing the helping, and I like it that way. Two Thanksgivings back, I was going through a very hard time. My friend invited me to her home for Thanksgiving. I said "no, it's ok". She looked at me, and said "please don't take the blessing of having you over for dinner away from my kids and myself". THAT is when I learned that it's not always the giving, but the receiving as well.

When friends of mine could not achieve pregnancy no matter what measures they tried, I offered to be their surrogate. I carried their son in my womb and gave birth to him in March of this year. They are now a happy family with a six month old baby! :)

Thank you SO much. :)

First off, I blogged about this:

http://shootingstarsmag.blogspot.com/2008/10/win-it-wednesday.html

The book sounds lovely and I'd love to read it!
As for something a friend has done for me..it's not anything huge, but when I got my wisdom teeth out, a couple friends of mine came over and relaxed with me. One even brought ice cream. It's simple, but sweet and thoughtful and I'm so glad they were good friends enough to be there for me.

My friends are always there for me. The most amazing item was one year, I lost everything I owned through a disaster. My friends came to me and raised money to help me with my new life.

Wow, you guys are leaving the most incredible entries! I've been checking back regularly, and I feel like I have to add my story. My best friend lives several states away, but when I was taking care of my mother-in-law who was dying of cancer, my best friend did everything she could to help us even across the distance. She'd send flowers to my mother-in-law when she was hospitalized and even had dinner delivered to our house from a local restaurant when I was too tired to cook. We've been friends for over 25 year.

Thanks to all of you for sharing such amazing stories!
