A book containing short stories by various authors is like an elegant dessert buffet - you can sample many selections and decide which are your favorites. You will probably discover some authors "new to you" and want to read more of their works. I'm always glad to discover new "favorite authors" to add to my list!

i love short stories they're very fulfilling, because i'm in shool usually i don't have time to read a full book, and if i do it takes me like a month! so short stories are great great because i can read them when i have free time and it doesn't take that long to finish!

I like to read before I go to bed and short stories are great because when the story is finished I can put the book down. If it is a long story I keep on reading and stay up too late.

As a mom finishing up a degree, I LOVE short stories. It has to be my favorite genre of books. I can pick up a book of short stories and read as long as I have available. And if I get back to it a month later, I don't have to start over! I have to buy any books of short stories that Neil Gaiman puts out, and at my used book store, I buy the issues of Great American Short Stories that were printed in the 60s-80s. Love 'em.

Short stories represent episodes, and just like we've become accustomed with TV, we can get a "quick fix" without sacrifice the wholeness of the tale. Start to finish, top to bottom with no interruption.

Give me jumping frogs and oblong boxes 'til the sun comes up...

short stories stir the imagination - you can add your own variables to them to embellish the story and fantasize a bit.
